The hogtie, made easy

The hogtie is the restraint position where wrists and ankles are linked together, most often behind the back. With ropes, it takes technique. With this Easytoys Fetish Collection hogtie cross, you just clip: a metal centre ring from which four short riveted faux leather straps radiate, each ending in a D-ring.

You attach your partner's wrist and ankle cuffs (not included), and he's immobilised. Simple, fast, formidable.

Four ways to use it

The classic hogtie: face down, wrists and ankles brought together behind the back. The most intense position, to be kept for short, supervised sessions.

Kneeling, hands to ankles: sitting on his heels, wrists linked to the ankles behind him. More comfortable, he stays upright, on offer, ready to serve you.

On his back, legs up: wrists and ankles linked in front of him, thighs folded: he can't close his legs and his ass stays wide open.

With ropes: in freestyle bondage or shibari, the centre ring makes a clean, solid junction point.

Beginner: start with the kneeling version. Experienced: shorten the link for a tighter hogtie, for a few minutes only.

Safety: a hogtie needs close watching

• Face down, breathing is restricted: limit the back hogtie to a few minutes and roll your partner onto his side at the first sign of shortness of breath.
• Never leave anyone alone in a hogtie, not even for a moment.
• Choose wide, padded cuffs, never thin metal cuffs that cut into wrists and ankles.
• Check hands and feet regularly: colour, temperature, tingling.
• Keep round-tipped scissors within reach and agree on a safety signal.
• Avoid this position if you have heart, breathing, back or shoulder problems, after a heavy meal or after alcohol.

Care: damp cloth and mild soap on the faux leather, rings wiped and dried before storing.
