A black low-temperature candle. For wax play, which is a discovery all of its own: brief heat on the skin produces a sensation nothing else reproduces.

A satin blindfold. Sensory deprivation is probably the most underrated accessory of the set — it's the one that amplifies everything else, and it requires no technique at all.

A rhinestone Venetian mask. This one is aesthetic rather than functional: it sets the character without depriving anyone of anything.

Where to start

The blindfold, without hesitation. It's the strongest accessory in the set and the least demanding. Losing your sight amplifies every touch, every sound, every moment of waiting — and it requires no technical confidence.

Then the satin straps rather than the handcuffs. Softer, easier to remove, perfect for a first restraint.

The flogger third. Start very gently, on the buttocks and upper thighs only. These areas are fleshy and low-risk.

The candle last, once you're both comfortable. Always test a drop on your own forearm first, and pour from a height of at least 30 cm — the longer the drop, the cooler the wax gets.

The safety rules

Agree on a safeword before you start. Simple, clear, impossible to mistake for part of the scene. This is the foundation of any BDSM play, even soft.

With the flogger: buttocks and upper thighs only. Never the lower back, never the spine, never the face, never the joints. The lower back houses organs and is protected by nothing.

With the candle: never on the face, never near the eyes, never on mucous membranes. Test on yourself first, pour from height, and keep something to wipe with.

With the handcuffs: keys within reach, a finger's width of slack between the metal and the wrist, and keep an eye on the hands.

Never leave someone restrained or blindfolded unsupervised. Never.
